The Department of Tamil was established in the year 1966. In addition to offering part-I Tamil to all the students of the undergraduate program, the Department also offers B.A., Tamil & M.A., Tamil. B. A Tamil has been offered since 1966 and an M.A Tamil has been offered since 2013.

The Department of English, the pride of the Institution, has been part of it, ever since its inception and has a rich heritage of 50 years of service in teaching English at the Part II level. It looks with pride at the accomplished track record set over the years by the enthusiastic faculty members.

The Department of History was established in 1969 with an undergraduate course in History In 1975 M.A History was introduced. In 2014, the department was upgraded to a Research Department with M.Phil and Ph.D. (Full-time and Part-time) programs. Our Department has 13 sanctioned faculty positions. Among them, 10 faculty members possess a Doctorate Degree.

The Department of Commerce was established as a separate entity in [Year — please provide if known]. The Department of Mathematics has been offering B.Sc Mathematics since 1966 and M.Sc Mathematics since 1980. The department has an enterprising faculty team and an enriched academic ambiance for the students. Six of the faculty have a Ph.D. Three of them are recognized research guides of Madurai Kamaraj University.

The Department of UG Physics was established in the year 1970-71 and PG Physics in 2013-14 with full strength. The department strives to provide quality education to make the students competent in all aspects with the help of well-qualified, committed, and experienced faculty members.

Chemistry is the most fascinating subject that deals with every aspect of our life. It nurtures students from various disciplines and hence has been a subject of maximum demand. The knowledge gained through the study of chemistry opens many career pathways.

There was a humble beginning of the Botany department with only Ancillary subjects. The then Botanical faculty intended that knowledge of plant science is necessarily infused in the minds of students. Thereby everyone understood what is what about Botany. Later on in the year 1995,

The Department of Geography was established in the year 1968 with a UG course and in the year in 1971 with a PG course. At present department has 6 Regular staff members 2 Guest Lecturers and 1 PTA Guest Lecturers and 259 UG and 29 PG students among its various academic ventures. It produces so many scholars and creates more professionals in various fields.

The Department of Home Science with its early beginnings in 1979-1980 has offered a B.Sc. Home Science with specialization in Child Care and Preschool Education till 1999-2000. Keeping in view the bright career prospects in the health, nutrition, and food industries, the department reframed the curriculum and offered a B.Sc.

The Department of Computer Applications blossomed in the year 1998 offering a Master of Computer Applications course approved by AICTE. In August 2018 BCA course was started. The Department has an enterprising faculty team of 3 Assistant professors . 2 Guest faculties and 1 programmer. It has more than 100 research publications to its credit.
